Benjamin Beall

Q. Ben - What are your plans after high school? If going to college, what college (if you know) and what do you want to study there? Will you be playing hockey anywhere after HS?

BEN: I have been accepted and offered a scholarship to the University of South Carolina College of Engineering, Biomedical Engineering program and then would like to pursue Medical school after that. I hope to play either men’s league or club depending on my classes and availability.

Q. What is your favorite school subject?

BEN: My favorite school subject is Engineering.

Q. Who is/was your favorite Teacher or Coach (could be any teacher/coach, all the way back to grade school even) and why?

BEN: My favorite teacher is my government /politics , history , civics/ economics teacher Ms. Clark that I’ve had every year since 8th grade because she makes me see things from a different perspective and her classes are fun.

Q. What person has had the greatest influence on you and why?

BEN: My late Grandpa Brad- because he knew absolutely everything about engineering, math , science , cars , and racing - all of my favorite things.

Q. What is your favorite memory of your Triad Storm Hockey career so far?

BEN: My favorite Triad Storm memory is the 16UA tournament we won in Philadelphia because it was the first tournament I’ve ever won.

Q. What kind of music do you like to listen to?

BEN: I dunno let’s say Rock.

Q. What is your favorite movie?

BEN: Batman the dark knight.

Q. What is your favorite book?

BEN: I don’t read books for fun because I don’t have time.

Q. What is your favorite food?

 BEN: Steak.

Q. How many siblings do you have and their names?

BEN: 1- my younger sister Sophia.

Q. How many pets do you have and what type?

BEN: 18! 3 dogs. A treeing walker coonhound -Justice, a schnauzer/ Australian shepherd mix puppy - Pickles , and a retired racing Greyhound- Emaline. 2 cats, Munchkin and Selena. 2 guinnea pigs , Cinnamon and Minnie. And a bunch of fish , Harry, Ron, Albus, Minerva, blue1 & blue2 , and thing1 & thing2 , Kory the Katfish , bubbles and a snail.

Q. If you had the chance to have dinner with one person from history (living or dead) who would it be and why?

BEN: Napoleon Bonaparte so I could talk to him about his military campaigns in Europe and how he took France from nothing to a world power.

Q. What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far?

BEN: Getting a scholarship to U of SC College of Engineering.

Q. ​​​​​​​If your life was made into a movie, what actor would you want to play you?

BEN: Sacha Baron Cohen because he’s brilliantly funny and can pull off anything.

Q. What is one thing you cannot live without?

BEN: OxYgen.

Q. What is the best vacation you ever took?

BEN: Disney Cruise.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

BEN: As a medical resident.

BEN: Thank you to my parents for hauling my butt an hour and a 1/2 each way up to Greensboro and all around the southeast all the time for hockey. I couldn’t have done it without you. Literally!!!

Thank you to my grandfathers for introducing me to some of my biggest passions. Grandpa Pete for always talking history and playing chess with me and my late grandpa Brad for all of his engineering and racing passion, excitement, and wisdom that I hope to carry on into my future.

My grandmas Alyce and Carol for putting up with me and the grandpas and loving us anyways. And for my whole family for always watching and supporting me online no matter how far away they were.

Thank you Coach Mark (MacDonald) for always believing in me even when I didn’t always believe in myself. Coach Chris Holleran for always taking extra time to work with me and Coach Kelly Curl for making me the goalie that I am.
