Important Information in regards to Executive Order N0. 181 and Revisions to the North Carolina State Face Covering Mandate.

On Tuesday December 8 Governor Roy Cooper issued Executive Order N0. 181 which primarily addressed the implementation of a modified stay at home order and requiring night time closure for certain businesses and activities for all North Carolinians. As part of the Executive Order N0. 181, exceptions to the face covering mandate were also added. These exceptions affect all ice-skating programs and relates to physical activity.

Representatives from North Carolina Rinks and CAHA worked together to develop a policy that the rinks adopted to ensure consistency rink to rink that followed Executive Order No. 181. There may be minor changes to this policy and if changes occur we will forward to you.

New Face Covering Policies:

·      Face coverings in place, in all rink spaces, at all times unless you are under age five or actively eating or drinking, as allowed by NC EO 180 Sec 2.4b,c.

·      Face coverings in place to enter ice surface.

·      Once on ice activity begins, skaters may adjust, but not remove, face covering to prevent respiratory or choking hazards, as allowed by NC EO 181, Sections 2.4a and 2.5.

·      Where social distancing is possible, coaches and instructors may temporarily lower face coverings to communicate with players and students, as allowed by NC EO 181, Section 2.4e.

The night time closure mandate does not directly affect the THA schedule, although there may be some schedule adjustments to assist the rinks as they modify their schedules to be in compliance with Executive Order N0. 181.

This becomes effective at 5:00pm December 11 and will remain in effect until 5:00pm January 8, 2021.

We want to continue to remind everyone to remain diligent and adhere to protocols in our efforts to prevent the exposure and transmission of COVID-19.
