12U White pulls together as a team and wins their first tournament of the season.

he Triad Storm 12U White team swept the Commonwealth Games this weekend with a 9-1 win over Roanoke, a 6-1 win over Lynchburg, and a nail-biter championship game against Lynchburg that went into overtime and a shootout. Jack P. won the game as the 3rd round final shooter and the final score was 6-5.  Game 1 was a fairly easy win. Our goalies each played half the game and only allowed 1 goal. The game featured 9 goals by Storm players with lots of passing and team play.  Game 2 was a bit tighter, but with the same result. Dorian played the entire game in goal and came out with a 5-1 win.

The Championship game was back and forth for the first 2 periods. Midway through the 3rd the score was 5-2 storm and looked as though the win was just minutes away. Lynchburg fought hard and scored 3 goals in the final 10 minutes to tie the game - the final goal coming with just 1:30 left in the game...... forcing OT. After an exciting and fast paced 4 on 4 OT with several chances at each end, the game went to a shootout. After 5 shooters it was tied 1 to 1. Jack skated in and scored the final shot to win the championship for the storm.

These were this 12U White's first games and what a way to kick off the season!
