Hurricane Florence Donations Delivered

By S. Kyser 10/18/2018, 1:30pm EDT

Our 12U White team headed to Wilmington with a carload of donations. Thanks to Everyone who donated.

Thanks again to everyone who donated!

A message from Steve Clark - Wilmington Jr. Icehawks 12U B Coach:

"Please extend our thanks to your players and parents who donated to hurricane relief. The Lydon family packed their trunk with quite a bit of stuff for their home as well as their neighborhood. The rest of the donated materials is going to a school in town that serves an area hit hard with flooding, and the school is currently distributing supplies to students, parents, and teachers in that area.

Again, please let your parents and players know that 100% of the things they donated will be distributed directly to someone who needs it by the end of the week!"

12U White Wins the Commonwealth Games

By S. Kyser 10/01/2018, 6:15pm EDT

12U White pulls together as a team and wins their first tournament of the season.

he Triad Storm 12U White team swept the Commonwealth Games this weekend with a 9-1 win over Roanoke, a 6-1 win over Lynchburg, and a nail-biter championship game against Lynchburg that went into overtime and a shootout. Jack P. won the game as the 3rd round final shooter and the final score was 6-5.  Game 1 was a fairly easy win. Our goalies each played half the game and only allowed 1 goal. The game featured 9 goals by Storm players with lots of passing and team play.  Game 2 was a bit tighter, but with the same result. Dorian played the entire game in goal and came out with a 5-1 win.

The Championship game was back and forth for the first 2 periods. Midway through the 3rd the score was 5-2 storm and looked as though the win was just minutes away. Lynchburg fought hard and scored 3 goals in the final 10 minutes to tie the game - the final goal coming with just 1:30 left in the game...... forcing OT. After an exciting and fast paced 4 on 4 OT with several chances at each end, the game went to a shootout. After 5 shooters it was tied 1 to 1. Jack skated in and scored the final shot to win the championship for the storm.

These were this 12U White's first games and what a way to kick off the season!
