  • Warm-up
  • Skating
  • Shooting
  • Passing
  • Stick Handling
  • Scrimmage Evaluation:
  • Each participant will be issued a jersey with assigned number.
  • Each participant will be graded using a form that all evaluators will use.  The form will allow for a numerical grade and limited comments

Special Information for 10U Tryouts:  Due to the anticipated high registration numbers for tryout participants, a slightly different format for 10U is being implemented.  10U tryouts will consist of three sessions.  Participants will be randomly placed into two Groups (Group 1 and 2) for the sessions on Saturday and Sunday.  The 10U participants will be divided into different two groups (Group Triad and Group Storm) for the third session based on the evaluator scores from Session 1 and 2.  The top 50% of evaluator scores will be in one group and the remaining players in the other group.  The additional session will assist the evaluators by keeping the numbers of skaters on the ice manageable at any given time.  U10 Participants will be notified no later than 7:00pm on Sunday May 19 following Session 2 via e-mail (note it is important that you put the correct e-mail on the registration form you wish to receive the e-mail notification) and information will also be posted on the website for what time they will skate the third session on Monday May 20.

Evaluators:  In order to maintain transparency in the process there will be three to five evaluators per age group with two- three independent evaluators and the team Head Coach.  THA Tryout Committee Members will also monitor the tryouts for additional input.

Selection Process:

  • Top six graded participants (skaters) and top graded goalie are automatic placements on the team.
  • Remaining roster is selected utilizing input from player evaluations, tryout committee and head coach.

Extension of Offers:  Offers for a position on a designated team will be extended no later than Friday May 24 and players shall have 48 hours from the time of notification to execute a player agreement.

Participants not extended an offer will be notified within seven days of last tryout date.

Players will be provided a rating and recommendations on areas to improve their individual development.
