Gate City Selects
Program Overview
Gate City Selects is the official Spring and Summer Development Program of Triad Hockey Alliance, built for serious travel-level players who want structured progression during the offseason.
This program is intentionally designed to bridge the gap between seasons. Rather than simply playing extra games, Gate City Selects provides a consistent training environment where players can refine skill execution, improve decision-making under pressure, and compete in meaningful tournament settings. Every on-ice session is organized with purpose — emphasizing pace, repetition, and situational awareness.
Teams are formed strictly by birth year to align with the upcoming fall season, allowing players to build chemistry early while developing within their proper age group. The structure mirrors in-season expectations, reinforcing habits that translate directly into fall competition.

Age Divisions
Teams are formed strictly by birth year for alignment with fall competition:
• 12U
• 14U
• 16U
• 18U
Program Timeline
Late March – Mid July
Each team receives 30 on-ice training sessions over the course of the spring and summer. Practices are typically scheduled twice per week,
Practice Structure
Minimum 16 structured on-ice sessions per team
2 practices per week (varies by age group)

• Greensboro Ice House
• Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Annex
Tournaments
All Gate City Selects teams attend the same primary tournaments.
Spring/Summer Tournament Schedule:
• Cleveland, OH – April (18U)
• Jacksonville, FL – April (12U/14U/16U)
• Pittsburgh, PA – May (All Teams)
• Virginia Beach, VA – June (All Teams)
• Hershey, PA – July (All Teams)
Each team competes in 4 competitive events throughout the spring/summer.
